The short version

This app has no account, no login and no server of ours. Your documents, the notes you make on them, your signatures, your bookmarks and any passwords you save stay on this phone. We cannot read them, because there is nowhere for them to go.

What we collect

Nothing. Neonix Apps operates no server, has no back end, and receives no data from this app — not your documents, not their names, not your usage, not an identifier, not a crash report.

Everything described below is data that goes from your device directly to a third party — Google, or an advertising partner — under that company's own privacy policy. It never passes through us and we never see it.

What the app sends, and to whom

Four things use the network, and none of them carries a document.

1. Scanning and text recognition. Scanning and text recognition run on your device, using Google's ML Kit. The page image and the text that is read from it never leave your phone. ML Kit does send Google its own diagnostics: device and OS details, this app's package name, a per-install identifier, timings and error codes. The first time you use text recognition, Google Play services also downloads the recognition model to your device. It never sends the page image, and never the words it read.

2. Buying Premium. A purchase is handled entirely by Google Play. Google Play is told what you bought and processes the payment. We never see a card number or any other payment detail. The app stores only whether your subscription is currently active.

3. Ads — on the free plan only. On the free plan the app shows ads. To choose an ad, our advertising partners receive your device's advertising ID and IP address, along with standard device and ad-request information. They never receive a document, a page, a page's text, a file name, or anything you typed.

The partners are:

• Appodeal — mediation and consent management — https://appodeal.com/privacy-policy
• Google AdMob — ad network — https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads
• BidMachine (incl. Amazon Publisher Services) — ad network — https://bidmachine.io/privacy-policy/

Premium removes the ads, and this with them. For a subscriber the advertising SDK is never started at all — no ad-network code runs in the app and nothing is transmitted to any of the partners above.

4. Opening a PDF from a web link. If you tap a link to a PDF and choose this app, Android's own download service fetches the file from the site you took the link from. That site sees the request, exactly as it would if you had opened the link in a browser. The app itself makes no request for document data.

Your choices about ads

When the advertising SDK first starts, a consent form is shown where the law requires one (the EEA, the UK, and US states with an opt-out right).

You can reopen or withdraw that consent at any time: Settings → Privacy choices. If you have never seen an ad — because you are a subscriber, or no ad has been shown yet — the row tells you so, because nothing has been collected and there is nothing to choose.

Where the law requires it, ads are requested with the non-personalised setting.

Permissions

The app asks for very little, and nothing it does not use.

• Notifications — only to report a long job you started (a scan, an OCR run, a conversion). Asked for at that moment, never at launch.
• Biometrics / fingerprint — only to unlock the app lock and the private folder, if you turn them on. Your fingerprint never leaves Android's secure hardware and is never seen by the app.
• Internet, network and Wi-Fi state, wake lock — arrive with the advertising, billing and ML Kit libraries. Never used for document data.
• Advertising ID and Android Ad Services — ads on the free plan only.
• Google Play billing — purchases.

The app declares no camera permission. The document scanner is Google's, and it opens the camera inside Google Play services under Google's own permission, not ours.

The app declares no storage permission. It reads only the files and folders you pick yourself through Android's document picker, and it can see nothing else.

Storage, retention and deletion

Everything the app stores is on this device, in the app's own private storage: the library index, notes and annotations, bookmarks, signatures, saved document passwords, the app-lock PIN, the private folder and the offline search index. There is no retention period because there is no server — the data lives on your phone until you remove it.

To delete all of it at once: Settings → Privacy & offline → Delete all local data. This clears the database, every file the app wrote, the app lock, the private folder and your saved folder grants.

Your own PDF files, in your own folders, are never touched by this. Uninstalling the app has the same effect.

Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to delete on our side, and no account for you to close.

Backup

Android's automatic cloud backup is switched off for this app, deliberately. Left on, it would copy the offline search index — which contains the text of your documents — along with the private folder and the app-lock PIN, to Google Drive.

Both cloud backup and device-to-device transfer are disabled, and an automated test fails the build if that is ever undone.

Your rights

Because Neonix Apps holds no personal data about you, there is no data of ours to access, correct, export or erase, and no profile for us to build.

For the data our advertising partners collect on the free plan, you can:

• withdraw or change consent at any time — Settings → Privacy choices;
• reset or delete your advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads;
• remove the collection entirely by subscribing to Premium, which stops the advertising SDK from ever starting;
• exercise your rights under the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA or your local law directly with the partner concerned, using the policy links above.

Where consent is required, the legal basis for advertising data is your consent, given in the form described above. Purchases are processed by Google Play on the basis of performance of a contract. Diagnostics from ML Kit are Google's legitimate interest in keeping its libraries working.

Our partners are international companies and may process this data outside your country under their own safeguards; their policies describe those transfers.

Children

The app is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from children. Ads are requested with the non-personalised setting where the law requires it, and Premium removes them completely.

Security

Documents, annotations and passwords are stored in the app's private storage, which other apps on the device cannot read. The private folder's files are sealed, the app lock's PIN is stored only as a salted hash, and everything the third-party libraries above transmit is sent over HTTPS.

Changes to this policy

If this ever changes, the updated policy ships inside the app and is dated, and this page is updated at the same time. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
